Place the Normal Production Tokens on the Hexes

Before you read this articleyou will need to know the following terms and definitions:

Production Token(-s): Noun. Singular or Plural. Refers to a small, circular cardboard token which is colored tan and printed with numbers and dots.  Placed in the center of certain hexes, it determines when a variety of events occur during gameplay. Most importantly, it allows player to “harvest” when numbers are drawn.

Note the size of the numbers and the dots (pips) beneath then umbers on the tokens.  The taller the number and the larger the quantity of dots, the more likely it is that number will be rolled or drawn.  “7” is the most frequent number, followed by “6” and “8”.  Since there is no “7” production number token, “6” and “8” are colored red.  They each have 5 dots, because there are 5 ways to roll these numbers on two dice.  The letters on the back of some of the production number tokens are only used during some versions of variable setup.

Collect all 50 tan production tokens, and spread them face-up in front of you.

  • 3 “2” tokens,
  • Etc.
  • Each main island should have an equal number of production tokens

Now, place the circular production tokens on top of the designated terrain hexes, as shown in the pictures below:
